Values

We stand for a Sustainable future, Diversity & Inclusiveness and Resilience.

Ā

To achieve the project objectives, we seek to contribute to the following main pillars of action:

Pillar 1: Academic Excellence:
Aims to integrate practical skills and problem-based teaching into the KNUST curriculum. A brand-new certificate course program for master students and young professionals will be developed and implemented in the ā€œlogistics and supply chain managementā€ program of the KNUST to strengthen the human capital development of Ghana. The basis of thisĀ

course will be the analysis of the current labor market needs in the country and the insights of further investigation on sustainable logistics approaches in the region.

In addition to this, practice-oriented case studies from the logistics sector and the automotive, pharmaceutical, and food industry of Ghana will be integrated into current teaching contents in both the KNUST and TUB to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Ā

Pillar 2: University-Industry Linkage:

Aims to establish mutual, collaborative engagement between industry and academia. Labor market-relevant offers for students will be implemented, on a regular basis, that support students to get in touch with practice earlier (e.g., regular company field trips, guest lectures by business partners).

Internship exchanges will be offered and promoted during the project. For this, we will work closely with our company partners to offer internship positions to Ghanaian students in Germany and German students in Ghana; additionally, we will create an internship platform where students from the KNUST can search for relevant offers.

Ā

Pillar 3: Research Excellence:
Aims to promote affordable sustainability in logistics and supply chain management.

The KNUST and TUB will conduct joint practice-oriented research projects on affordable sustainable logistics solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa with focus on automotive, pharmaceutical, and food industry. By doing this, current sustainability approaches can be adjusted simultaneously with the needs, development opportunities and main challenges in the Sub-Sahara African region. In line with SDGs 12.2 and 9.4 we will be focusing on creating the necessary knowledge both to promote sustainable management and efficient use ofĀ natural resources, and to make the logistics sector more sustainable with increased adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and processes.

A continuous joint research program consistent of research visits to Ghana and Germany, field trips to industry partners, research symposia and the creation joint publications among researchers from the KNUST and TUB will be conducted to support the professional development of the university staff.
